Well Festival of Arts and Wellbeing 2018 issued a call out in early September for avid readers to submit their favourite piece of writing (not self-written) for consideration for We haven’t had an earthquake lately…., a flagship event of the festival which celebrates the joy of reading, taking place at The Book Centre, Waterford, on Friday 12 October. Successful applicants have been invited to share their selections with the public at this popular annual event.
The Well Festival of Arts and Wellbeing, established in 2013, is presented by Waterford Healing Arts Trust, Garter Lane Arts Centre and Waterford City and County Libraries. The festival has become a landmark event in the Waterford calendar, with events taking place throughout the city and county celebrating the benefits of participation in the arts by all.
Announcing the open call for We haven’t had an earthquake lately, Claire Meaney, Acting Arts Director of Waterford Healing Arts Trust said “Earthquake is one of our most popular events every year, with a great number of keen Waterford readers seeking to share their favourite feel good writings with the wider public in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. There is considerable evidence worldwide which documents the positive impact reading has on our physical and mental wellbeing, so this will be fun evening that’s also good for you! We’re delighted that our Poet-in-Residence at Waterford Healing Arts Trust, Edward Denniston, will be our Guest MC for the evening, and we’re also extremely grateful to The Book Centre Waterford for their kind sponsorship of this lovely event”.
Well Festival of Arts and Wellbeing runs from 8-13 October 2018 with 49 events throughout Waterford City and County. This fun, inventive and sociable festival champions the health benefits of participation in the arts by everyone, with a wide-ranging programme of innovative events for all ages across all artforms.
