From Waterford Healing Arts Trust in partnership with the Arts Council.
Part of an online series of panel discussions, workshops and resources seeking to strengthen resilience, restore confidence and promote connectedness across the arts sector.
Our sincere appreciation to our associate organisation Visual Artists Ireland for their support and guidance in putting this Visual Art strand together.
Designed to support self-care, this workshop will offer a creative, self-reflective space for those working in the visual art community who would like to avail of a supportive, non-judgemental, safe space to take time out and participate in an honest, nourishing consideration of their work. Drawing on facilitator Marie Brett’s extensive experience and knowledge, participants will be brought through a series of private and self-reflective activities, while assessing their current ways of working, articulating their ambitions and fears, and identifying current and potential supports.
Adm free, but booking essential. See below. **UPDATE: This workshop is fully booked.
About Marie Brett
Marie Brett is a visual artist working with digital, sculptural and more recently live event media. Her work conceptually explores issues of human trauma, with a special interest in hidden or stigmatised Irish experience. Marie’s social arts practice is trans-disciplinary. Recent work includes an international global justice commission exhibited at the European Parliament. Current work sees Marie as lead artist in two ambitious, multi-disciplinary works: an installation about human trafficking and modern-day slavery, in partnership with Cork Midsummer Festival; and a performative dance, spoken word and film piece about Irish capacity legislation, in partnership with dementia carer advocates, IMMA and the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Marie graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London with MA and BA visual arts degrees. She has received numerous awards for her practice, her artwork is held in national and international art collections and she has published writing in Ireland, the UK and Finland.
Adm is free to this workshop, but places are limited, so booking is essential.
