Eric Sweeney

Reflection on the passing of our dear friend and former colleague
It was with profound sadness that we learned of the passing of our dear friend and former colleague Eric Sweeney yesterday.  Eric was our Composer in Residence in 2018 and, along with poet Edward Denniston, created the extraordinary choral work Hospital Voices to mark our 25th Anniversary.  He was a delight to work with, professional and utterly reliable, generously offering us insights into his process.   What a joy it was to hear the sounds of his composition coming together in the studio as we went about our working day.  An immense talent, a kind heart and an infectious smile, we are so grateful to have had the honour to work and celebrate with him.  Our deepest sympathies to Eric’s wife Sally, his daughters Catherine, also our former colleague, and Rachel, his son Manus, his beloved grandchildren and his wider family.  Ni bheidh a leitheid aris ann.
