Clever Ghouls Fundraising Quiz

Thurs 27 Oct, in aid of Healing Sounds

Are you a Clever Ghoul?  Or a Quiz Demon?  Come along to our fun Halloween-themed Quiz Night at The Cove Bar, Dunmore Road on Thursday 27 October at 8.30pm.  Entry fee is €20 per table of 4, with all proceeds going to our Healing Sounds live music programme, bringing music to the bedside of patients in various healthcare settings.  All welcome.

Announcing details of the event, Shirley O’Shea, from the Fundraising Committee of Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT), said “We’re really looking forward to a great night at our Clever Ghouls Quiz in aid of WHAT’s Healing Sounds programme.  Healing Sounds brings live music to the bedside of patients in various healthcare settings, including the fantastic South East Palliative Care Centre, located at University Hospital Waterford.  Through music, our professional musicians, who are trained to work in healthcare settings, help to ease the anxiety and worry often experienced by patients and their families.  People tell us that this positive experience makes a real difference to them and helps to lift their spirits at a difficult time.”

“Being the Halloween season, we’ll have a bit of fun at our Clever Ghouls Quiz, with a prize for the best costume, lots of other spot prizes and €100 for the winning team.  It’s not too serious: Dress up if you feel like it, but do bring a friend or three and join us for an enjoyable social evening to help us raise funds for this great cause.  We’re fortunate to have Waterford Healing Arts Trust here in Waterford, so let’s do all we can to support them.  Our sincere thanks to all the team at The Cove Bar for their invaluable support”.

Tom Drohan, Manager of The Cove Bar, added “We’re delighted to host this fun quiz night in aid of Waterford Healing Arts Trust.  We all know the great work that WHAT does for the people of Waterford, so we’re looking forward to welcoming a big crowd and raising funds for this cause that’s close to all our hearts”.

Established in 1993, WHAT brings arts experiences to the bedsides of patients at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) and other healthcare settings.  These experiences include the Healing Sounds live music programme on the wards; Open Gallery, an art viewing project for people living with dementia and their family members/carers; Iontas Arts and Mental Health programme; the Art Kart & Storytelling in Paediatrics; the Arts Programme in the Renal Dialysis Unit; the Staff Art Wall, the extensive UHW Art Collection and Art at the Kitchen Table, bringing art into people’s homes.  Through these programmes, Waterford Healing Arts Trust seeks to soften the clinical environment and alleviate stress and anxiety for patients, family members and staff.  The organisation also leads the development of arts and health throughout Ireland and manages the resource website www.artsandhealth.ie
